1/144 Gozanti Cruiser plans

Postby nicholassagan » March 28th, 2013, 10:08 pm

Some of you have already borne witness to these images, but since there is a nice CG-WIP thread here...why not?? This project is also in a holding pattern so I can finish up some other, higher priority projects...

While I had finished up the files pretty well for the smaller scales of 1/350 and downward, there was still a bit of room for improvement on the 1/144 version, which should be close to 11.5″ or so when completed. Firstly, I’ve been thinning the walls a little bit more and also making them more even. By and large the 350 kit was decent but the thickness was inconsistent. Scaled up those walls would also be super thick. There was also a bit of faceting on the smaller print that I had sanded down for the master. For this guy, I’m trying to make it as detailed and smooth as possible so it can be sent off to print and finished by Ownage. They do some amazing printing and finishing work so I really have to step it up for this one. The parts breakdown is also going to be more complex to reflect better printing capabilities and ease of mold-making.

So far I’ve finished up a few smaller parts: the canopy, the “mouth” parts which has a TON of greeblies and the main engine (halves + cap). I added smoother curves and a bunch of piping detail, too. Should be pret-ty cool.

Sketchup is a very good 3D app. Not much powerfull but really good!

BTW, I plan on "talking" Nick into letting me carry/produce this kit after Wonderfest, or in the fall at the latest. And by "talking" I mean I have very large friends with Mozzerella on their breath. Capische? This kit, and one that has the initials EH...

Nick, what would the inside dimensions be if you did an interior cockpit?
