1/72 T-16 Skyhopper

Postby Uwe Kaeding » April 15th, 2018, 11:39 am

Well I've decided that this year will be the one where I actually finish a lot of started projects. The first one is a 1/72 Skyhopper from Fantastic Plastic - I started it back in May 2014 and its just been sitting around since then.

I started out way back then by cutting off the front of the cockpit, hollowing it out and lining the walls with sheet styrene:

Now that I've restarted it I've added the central wall, reinstated the nose piece and added some detail bits to the back wall (which ended up being wasted as they are covered by the figures):

I also made some dash pieces for the cockpit and new front walls:

Some figures added - A Luke from the Bandai PG falcon and a Leia from the FM Falco (repainted with grey hair to represent Aunt Beru...). Had to sand their shoulder down as the fit is tight:

And now the new front walls glued in place, along with some home-made decals for the side and front dash boards:

Now for some masking, painting and construction.

If I had one of these I would do the same thing - though it looks pretty tight in there!

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Yes, the interior is definitely a tight fit but part of that's my fault - I should have used some lighter gauge sheet to line the interior and make the wall mounted dash pieces.

Great work

It always feels good to get some progress in on old kits that have been sitting around
If you have a tool and aren't aware of what it can do, its dangerous. A jedi can do amazing things with a lightsaber. A roomful of chimps with lightsabers... would get messy.

Thanks Blake. This one's nearing the end - got all the main pieces painted and put together and put the decals on:

Just a bit of weathering to go.
