Re: TIE Mauler

Jason Abbadon- I based the shape off of a Ejection seat from a Tornado (or at least the web image was labeled as such) with kibble glued on- EASY to do, I'm pretty sure I have the plans for it, I can post the jpg. Looks more impressive than it is Halcyon- My wife started at Christmas rewatching it o...

Re: TIE Mauler

Like a beautiful Phoenix, it rises from the ashes... Well I kind of got a bit burnt out on this project, and needed some perspective as to tackle the treads/ tracks because I knew it would be a beast to tackle. So I distracted myself scratch building "Winonna" WITH laser pointer and LEDs ammo lights...

Re: In Space......What is "weathering"???

Just thought of: ONE COULD argue that the reason why ST shuttles never flare up and look so pretty is from the energy shielding doesn't let the heat actually touch the surface of the shuttles... BUT SW craft do have Defector Screens... so COULD the same happen? that the screens would kick in minimiz...

Had some time at lunch: "Simple re-entry wear" http://cyberplasticmodeler.blogspot.ca/2013/09/space-vehicles-walkaround-vol1-apollo.html " I remember not one single shot of the Falcon, generating a fireball, during reentry and landing. Powered reentry can be slow, and controlled" TO COUNTER- we actu...

Re: In Space......What is "weathering"???

I would also point out weathering passing through atmospheres... and not always the oxygen kind... From extreme heat, and corrosive atmospheres. How many times does a smuggler ship "hide" in the gases of XYZ, do that enough and your ship will weather. THEN there is also the usual: Wash: Well, if she...

Re: WIP - 1/72 JPG HWK-290

Love the idea but IMHO I think all the grill work on the wings and fins need to have a thick layer of carbon (black grime) to give the wings more depth... there just isn't enough contrast of color on the backend. For me anyways. Painting thus far is outstanding! bah I had five minus AND photoshop open

Re: Fiberoptic strands...

I think he means the strands in the plastic surface. Stick extra strand length though the hole in the model and after painting give all the "extra" fiber sticking out a gentle 90 degree bend and they will snap flush with the surface of the model... your not actually aligning the end of the fiber wit...
