FM Falcon - the ultimate HOW-TO

Post by Rockvoice » March 13th, 2013, 12:01 pm

Hey folks!

Let's start a complete how-to on the Fine Molds falcon.
Though it is a great kit there are several areas that need to get modification.

First - a list:

- Mandibles correction
- jaw correction
- radar dish too small
- gun turnable dishes too "fat"
- front cockpit window-frame too big

What else?

And - if you have or find pictues of these areas anywhere post them and we'll have a great collection of things that need our attention.

The dish have the same diameter as the Cockpittube. That´s 8 cm in Studio Scale and 4cm in 1:72.

Scratchy makes a resin replacement that I put on mine:

Also the tube on the walkway is missing:

And the fins underneath, mine doesn't show it that well in this pic but you can see that the stand is almost touching one of them. They aren't on the 32" falcon anymore because they have been snapped of the studio model! :? :

There's also some raised squares and rectangle's around the turret side, also the flutes aren't on the bottom ring of the engines. There's probably tons more stuff as well lol

Sorry I posted the work I'm doing in the WIP section, I'm still working at this kit but I have modified the mandibles, the jawbox & the turret wall

My thread is here:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=84

Heres some images of the mentioned areas:

The Modified Upper (L) & unmodified lower jaw side by side:

The modified mandibles & jaw (L) & OOB FineMolds kit (R):

More of a slope added to the turret walls:

The larger radar dish purchased from Scratchy:

I have a second FineMolds Falcon & I will do a more in depth step by step mandible & jaw mod when making it

yeah! Great work so far!

It looks like it was just a little to modify, but wow - that takes hell of a lot time and disciplin to stick to it.

To say it with the words of this very forum: Keep the Force! ;-)
