I'm guessing it's just age and fading. I don't think those folks handle the models with the worshipping hands that we would. Is this kit cheaper than the Al Wong kit?

I'll say it here and now. It's NOT a different color :D

Heh hey guys I've not been coming on much these coupla weeks with a new business starting up and all.

I've stared at ALL the bomber pics over and over and over and over again. The whole thing is painted in one solid color (Haze grey is the closest), and the cockpit covers etc are just german gray.

I'd suggest studying the studio model pics closely. There are a couple of tabs here and there that the ILM guys painted gray too.

Pros: It's about $270 cheaper, and about 100% better.

Cons: it's about 1/2 the size as Al's. His is 1:24, mine is studio scale.

But I thought 1/24 was "Studio Scale"? :D Sorry, someone was going to ask it.

Amazing looking kit, can't wait to see what you do with it.

Ok I'm sorry its taken so long to produce an update but finally right at the deadline I've made a start! Weather I'll have it finished by the deadline though is anyone's guess lol
So here's the parts all cleaned up:
Image
Then a 19mm rod test fitted that I bought from the DIY store:

Cut to length:

Then I chamfered the edges so the wings will slide on and off easier:

Test fit:

Two holes where then drilled in to accommodate the wires for the lights:

Then this is when I completely Fu%$£d up :( for some reason I didn't dry fit the round engines at the back and assumed the pouring stub had to be removed.....in doing this the round engine cover (Saturn V part is it???) came out.....then I put it back in......the wrong way round!!!!!! I didn't realise this until the lighting job was almost done and now I've just said hell with it I'll keep going, you can see what I mean here:
Image
Anyway the lights work with a hidden battery inside and a small switch on the underside:
