I have everything printed so far in the sunshine to post cure (UV sensitive resin); looking good - apart from the landing skid in the photo, that is the wrong way round. The extra "wings" are with design changes and re-prints; some are not 100%.

The CAD is complete - in flight no landing gear. The bomb racks look nice printed.

Looks really nice. One question though - which version of 1/72 is it based on, the Fine Molds version or the Bandai one? I would base it on the diameter of the cockpit glass, which should be about the same as any other TIE.

Definitely agree that you should think about turning it into a kit master. It looks better than the old Sovereign Replicas version, which also looks a bit small now compared to the Bandai kits.

Hi, thanks.
My model is based almost completely on the schematic from Wookieepedia. That is only two views though; I have a few reference photos of the Sovereign model.
I don't actually own any Tie models. Maybe you / someone could give me a target diameter for the canopy? I measured my efforts as I was building the CAD and it worked out at (Edit) 1.4m (19mm / 3/4" at 1:72); I thought that seemed about right.
The fighter engine style; I prefer the look of this compared to the Sovereign model version, Wookieepedia doesn't show the rear elevation and I couldn't find anything else.

I thought the CAD was complete; lasers!

The FM canopy has a 20mm diameter (outside of the circle) and the Bandai canopy is a little over 22mm in diameter. That would make yours either 1/76 or 1/83, depending on which one you prefer as being a true 1/72 :P. Either way close enough for science fiction :D

The Ansel model - that is so nice! Thanks for that; I couldn't get that much detail in at 1:72. I will work with what I have initially but I might have to take some hints from that model.

I worked the scale directly from the Wookieepedia image and the O/A length- that worked out ok then. I could reprint the front cockpit with a larger canopy.

Thanks for the feedback; much appreciated.

Looking forward to see how it looks with some primer on it
If you have a tool and aren't aware of what it can do, its dangerous. A jedi can do amazing things with a lightsaber. A roomful of chimps with lightsabers... would get messy.
