Vader's First Fighter
I bought some 1/32 or 1/35 scale seated resin Darth Vader figures on Ebay. These came from Moscow, Russia no less. Very nicely cast - only $10 for two. I am using the MPC Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor to make Vader's first fighter. We'll see how it goes.

Awesome! I picked up those figures as well. Can't wait to see what you do with this one. Though I think I have the Revell kit...

Awesome! I've wanted to see something like this!
Re: Vader's First Fighter
that vador figure is nice, way much better than the one coming with the old X1 mpc kit!

Re: Vader's First Fighter
Hey folks, its been a while. I've had a very busy year. Kids back and forth to college, 25th wedding anniversary trip and so forth. I stared working on this again. The kits being produced by Revell, the detail is hit and miss. In order to make the Vader figure work, I had to change so cockpit detail - leaving some and replacing other parts with strip styrene. I added a front plate which I will paint to match the interior. I am using Flory Models washes. They are clay - based so they are virtually fool proof. I haven't had much experience with oil or enamel washes, but I am starting to experiment. Here's what I got.
I had to re-position the Vader figure, adding the controls to his hands and sculpting the forearms with Super-fine Milliput. I'll keep you posted.

Cool! It's funny, I actually wanted to do kind of a reverse of this, and take his TIE-Advanced and do a what if Anakin went good instead of evil, and paint up the TIE in yellow and chrome. Fun, fun, fun.
Can't wait to see what this looks like. (Actually, I can wait. If I couldn't I'd die or something, and that wouldn't be okay, so I'll wait if I have too, but hopefully not too long.

This is very cool. Can you post any info about the seller? I don't see them eBay at the moment.
Re: Vader's First Fighter
It's simply a resin casting of the Vader figure from the Revell kit #1857. I've got that kit, and it's identical to what's seen here. The kit Vader is made from some sort of crappy vinyl stuff though.MarkW wrote:This is very cool. Can you post any info about the seller? I don't see them eBay at the moment.
