if you need white on your decals, print on white decal paper and add a ring of your basic ship color (no need for a perfect color match). Cut close to your subject but leave enough for thin details. When it's on your ship paint your base color as close as you dare
Clearcoat and wash etc. Maybe you'll see a light color variation but your subject will camouflage this...
